Mod Vintage Life

Oh I'm so flattered that Nita at Mod Vintage Life has featured the green table I painted last week on this week's

!!!

If you haven't yet, you should give her blog a peek. I've been following her for some time. She has tons of great ideas and pictures of her own home, along with inspiring photos of other homes she either visits in her Open House Sunday edition or from other designers.

Here is a photo from Nita's recent $20 kitchen makeover.

And one of her most recent projects - this adorable periwinkle table.

On a random note, I'm going to have to post pictures of the awesome huge skeleton key and the vegetable strainer (I think? I'm using it as a key/junk holder on the entryway table! lol) that I got today at the thrifts on my way home after work. I'll try to get those up sometime soon. I love finding uses for things other than what they were intended for!

Until then,

A little "Spritz of Lime"

"Spritz of Lime" is the name of the color I chose for my new sofa table and I'm loving how it turned out! I think it's just the burst of energy the living room / dining room of my apartment needed =)

Before:

I originally considered painting the cane a creamy white, but after painting it all green I decided I like it and I'm going to keep it how it is. It's been a while since I painted a piece of furniture a bright, funky color (the side table next to my sofa is a bright coral) so this was really fun to paint.

And also as promised, the finished product of the small table I painted a while back. It's now in my bedroom with the TV on it. Not exactly my original plan for it (I had planned to sell it) but we needed a table for the TV and it works perfectly, so I'm going to keep it for now. Please ignore the ugly cords underneath it =P

Until next time,

All Moved In...

Well, mostly at least.

Here is my mantle for now. I'm still getting settled in so I'm sure I'll end up changing things.

For instance, I really want to dry brush a pallet white with a simple wreath on it, similar to this photo below of  Donna's mantle at Funky Junk Interiors.

My little thrift store owls found a new home hanging out with the awesome vintage suitcase and metal basket my mom found for me.

And last but not least, I have already found a new project. There was one wall in the dining room of the apartment that was just so bare and it needed something. Luckily there are 3 or 4 thrift stores near my new job (yay!) so I wasted no time after work to stop in there. I found a sofa table that was just the right size for the space I wanted to fill for just $20.

The top needs a little T.L.C. I think I'm going to paint the table an apple green a little lighter than the color of the suitcase pictured above, with the cane on the bottom and some details on the legs white.

Excited to get started on it, but the paint will have to wait until payday next week =P

In my next post I'll FINALLY share the after pictures for the table I painted a while back. I have more room in this new apartment so I ended up just keeping it. I'm bad about that, but hey I needed a table for the TV in our bedroom now!
